The Process of Change

Each one of us is capable of change -  change within ourselves, in our relationships with others, and in our life situation. Therapy is a reflective time to gain perspective on the challenges and conflicts you currently face.  Therapy is a safe place to determine where and why you are "stuck"and then explore the thought processes, habitual patterns of communication, beliefs, behaviors and actions that prevent you from moving forward.  Therapy is a space in which to set goals and identify realistic steps necessary for their attainment. Therapy is a process of change through awareness. You will notice shifts in your behavior, thoughts and feelings that contribute to an improved sense of well-being and quality of life. I will provide support, guidance and direction to facilitate the process of change in your life.

My work originates from a deeply sincere commitment to your growth and is informed by the breadth and depth of perspective from which I draw both personally and professionally.  My training as a professional with children under five years old, adolescents, couples, families and individuals provides me with a broad clinical base from which to understand human development both over time and across situations.  Certification as a yoga instructor, completion of a healers program, and work as a psychotherapist at an integrative holistic health center for five years ground me with a working knowledge of the mind/body connection.  Five years spent traveling, living, studying, and working abroad also inform my work in addition to being a wife and mother to three sons.  I am an avid walker who paints, cooks, meditates, bikes, practices yoga, and dances to maintain physical, emotional and spiritual balance.

Since graduating from the University of Chicago in 1990, I have worked with individual adults, adolescents, & children, as well as couples, & families to create change in their lives on issues like:

      Depression~Anxiety~Time & Stress  Management~Emotional Eating~Chronic Illness

      Marital~Sexual Identity~Life Purpose~Relationship

as well as transitions such as:

      Graduation~ Marriage~Birth~Parenting~Divorce~Menopause~Job Promotion/Loss

I have presented throughout the community on a wide variety of topics including aspects of children's social/emotional growth and development, emotional eating, parenting principles and strategies, time and stress management, marital dynamics, and various transitions such as menopause and divorce.
